Tipical Mistakes in Marketing

To prevent the risks of a promotion campaign for our products or services, I’m talking about email campaigns, it is recommended to study some of the most common mistakes that can be made in this situation:

1. The desire of immediate success

Launching a promotion campaign through email can be compared the situation in which we want to reach the top of a hill with our car, starting from the base. It is obvious that we won’t succeed on the first try and it requires a little more time until we reach the proper speed. In some cases we get to wonder if our car is capable of such a task. It takes patience!

On the other hand, experts say that the only variable that influences the success of any marketing campaign is “the force of the message”. That’s why a campaign needs to be focused, faithful to the promoted message and you need to arm yourself with A LOT of patience.

2. Trying to reach a bigger audience then your budget allows.

Which would be the right option? To have your message reach the whole target group and to influence only 10% or to have your message reach only 10% of the targeted group but to influence all the members?

To understand better how marketing efforts can get more efficient take a look at this analogy: your message is the “nail”, repeating action is the “hammer” and the client is a “chuck of wood”. If the “nail” is sharp and the hammer is used efficiently you can pierce through the chuck of wood and catch the client.

Oh well maybe it wasn’t the right analogy but I’m sure you got the message?

3. The assumption that the business owner is always right or “knows best”. There are situations in life ( like family environment, profession, hobbies), when are are all emotional implicated and we risk to lose objectivity. The excess of information related to our company, the services and products we offer, makes us answer questions that are never asked.

“When you are closed in a bottle it’s hard to read your own label”. In this case, the opinion of a “outsider” can help.. big time!

4. Unfonded complaints

A lot of service providers are complaining that they don’t identify correctly the request of their clients and they end up by losing them. In this situation, it’s best to be specific in your presentation, offers, in the way you conduct your business because it’s better to be specific then to generalize.

5. Sending single emails instead of email campaigns

Just like Rome wasn’t built in a single day, or like friendship doesn’t mean just one date, a single advertising ad doesn’t provide the impact of an entire advertising campaign. While developing a advertising campaign there needs to be a connection, a link, a logic fluidity. All emails you send can be compared to pieces of a puzzle game that represents your company’s image.

6. Obedience to the unwritten rules.

You certainly want to be unique, different from the others. If you act like it, you certainly will be noticed.

7. Ignoring the adequate moment for sending emails.

8. Selecting the target audience.

The fact that the advertising message needs to reach the decision factors ( people that make decisions ) of a company doesn’t mean that your campaign is successful. The truth is that, the big majority of the decisions are presented to the people within the company: coworkers, employees, and so on. They make the decisions together.

9. Ignoring the words with impact.

Words like: agile, smart, cute, creative, are just surrogates for words like: informative, credible, memorable and persuasive. The name of the e-commerce game is “persuasiveness”, influencing potential buyers to really buy your merchandise. This is what really brings you money and success.

What is an upline in MLM and Network Marketing?

It is the “Line of folks above you” that are there to help you in your quest for MLM success. They all have the opportunity to make some money from your network marketing efforts, and you need to know who they are, and what they have accomplished.

They are your SUPPORT TEAM as they have a vested interest in your MLM Success in Network Marketing. Use them for your Success and theirs as well.

What you need to do, is send each of them an email. Contact your sponsor and get their emails and telephone numbers and send them a letter introducing yourself.

Why?

They can help you, train you, give you their insight from their mistakes, and generally help you with their experience for network marketing success.

There are some questions that I recommend asking your upline:

“What helped create the success you have in your group?”

“What is the most important thing I can do right now to get my business started and why?”

“If you were me, what conference calls do I need to be on?”

“What made you decide to join our company and why?”

“What is the way that you keep motivated?”

“What one success secret is there to this business that has helped you the most?”

“How can I help be a part of the team and contribute?”

“Can I volunteer to do things and when?”

“What drives you to succeed?”

“What is the ONE Secret to Success in Network Marketing?”

These are the type of questions that an upline will appreciate..but understand:

How to Avoid Losing Money to Affiliate URL Thieves!

If you are promoting your affiliate URL on the web then you are in danger of losing sales to affiliate URL thieves. In fact over 40% of your affiliate commissions are in danger of being stolen. And the worst part of this is that is can be avoided with as little as 10 minutes of work and for free! All you need to do is cloak your affiliate URLs. By cloaking your affiliate URLs not only are you protecting your links and commissions you also increase your credibility and potential purchases.

As an affiliate you have probably received an affiliate URL to your program that looks something like this:

http://www.youraffiliatecompany.com/cgi-bin/w.cgi?67487

To the consumer this link does not look very appealing. Also, your affiliate code is right there in the open for someone to remove and place in their own affiliate number - effectively stealing your sales. This is very possible with popular affiliate programs like SFI or ClickBank. But with cloaking you can turn that ugly URL into something more appealing like:

http://www.thenameofyourchoice.com/widgets

The benefits to this more appealing affiliate URL are:

1. Your affiliate id is now cloaked and your commissions are protected

2. This URL looks much more clickable to the consumer thus increasing your click through rates

3. If your customer decided to bookmark this site they bookmark your domain address and not the affiliate company address - increasing your chances of a repeat visit.

4. With your own URL you are able to tack where you are getting visitors easier than with the generic affiliate link.

So how do you create this affiliate cloaking URL?

Here is what you do:

1. Connect to your web server using your FTP client (or other file management program)

2. Create a directory that properly describes the product you are affiliated with. In this example lets say your product is called “The Best ebook Ever” so I would create a directory called “best-ebook-ever”.

3. Create a single index.html (or index.htm) file. If you don’t have HTML Notebook will work.

4. Edit the index file so that it contains this exact code:

<HTML></p> <p><HEAD><br /> <TITLE> Page Title Goes Here </TITLE><br /> </HEAD></p> <p><FRAMESET><br /> <FRAME SRC="Your affiliate URL goes here"><br /> </FRAMESET></p> <p></HTML>

To make your page and the affiliate page look identical I suggest
you copy the affiliate page’s title - to see this just click on
your affiliate link and copy the phrase on the top of your
browser’s window.

Don’t forget to double check your affiliate URL - it MUST be
correct!

5. Place the index.html file in your new directory (”best-ebook-ever” in my example).

That’s all it takes. Now your affiliate link is cloaked and you gain credibility in your consumers mind by having a much more professional looking link.

Now that you know how to cloak your affiliate URL go spend 10 minutes and protect your commissions before you lose another sale to a affiliate URL thief.

What is Success to You?

In my 10 years of experience in coaching my clients to maximize their success, I have created powerful tips to help you accelerate your progress. The first of these is for you to get clear on exactly what “success” means to you. I can’t tell you how many agents I have worked with who have a general idea that they want to be successful but they don’t really know where they want to be professionally in 12 months from now.

Ideal Business Visualization

Usually I help my clients get clear by giving them an “Ideal Business Visualization”. I ask them to visualize themselves doing work they love, the number of hours they would like to do it, who they want to be interacting with and the level of income they’d like to be making. This takes the mystery out of “success” and they become crystal clear on how they would know if they were successful. I ask them to write down their desired income and the number hours per week that they are willing to work. Then I ask them “how committed are you to reaching your goals”. The ones that answer 100% are the ones who have a 100% chance of achieving what they want. COMMITMENT is the determining factor. What is your commitment level?

What do you want to manifest in 12 mo.?

I also ask my clients what they would like to manifest in their personal lives in 12 months from now. They usually take a good look at the area of relationships, fun and recreation and their own sense overall health and well being. It becomes apparent then that balance between personal and professional lives is crucial for a successful long term career in real estate. For example, no one wants to become wildly successful at the expense of their marriage and family.

Competitive Marketing Analysis

The keyword in this phrase gives us a hint - “competitive”. The competitive marketing analysis is an in-depth study of your business’s competition and the markets available to you in order to ensure your advertising and public relations budget dollars are spent where they will be most effective. In order to perform strategic planning for your firm’s future, it is imperative to know who the competition is and exactly what you are up against to ensure that your market share is sufficient for your firm’s future. Increasing market share is the goal of any competitive marketing analysis.

Identifying the Competition

Who is the competition and how can they be located? Since you know exactly what products or services your firm provides, you can locate your competition by identifying other producers or providers in the same market that you supply. This is not a difficult task; it does, however, require some research. Competing suppliers are not hiding; they advertise just as your firm does.

The yellow pages of your local telephone book can be the starting point for competition identification. Research the Internet searching for press releases and publications which use descriptions similar to your products or services. Government agencies, Dunn and Bradstreet, business magazine features or employment of a private research firm can reveal a great deal about your competition and how they operate.

Shop Your Competition

If you want to know first-hand about your competition, shop with them. For example, if you are in the restaurant business, eat at local restaurants that are similar in price range and clientele to your establishment. If you are a plumbing business, have someone contact the competition and learn prices of service calls and specific products. Knowing as much about the competition as possible allows your marketing analysis to include details rather than generalities.

Unbiased Comparisons

In order to truly analyze your firm’s strengths and weaknesses, you need unbiased sources willing to compare your firm and the competition. You can employ market researchers, use surveys, form focus groups to obtain completely unbiased opinions on what you are doing right and wrong and how your competition stack up to your business.

Measure your strengths and ensure these strengths are maintained or improved upon. Identify your weaknesses and create a plan to improve those areas significantly. After you implement your plan, go back to your unbiased researchers and obtain another comparison to ensure that your implementation of your strategic plan has been effective.
