Mobile Phone Ring tone Converter

Posted in Best Hardware at 2:00 am by admin

Are you fed up with the same ring tone that plays on your mobile phone? Why not try using a ring tone converter. Ring tone converter is basically computer software which helps you to add new ring tones to your mobile phones. Mobile ring tone converter can be used for both Microsoft Windows and Apple Mac Systems. The system allows adding new ring tones in the mobile phones without the use of expensive cable network or premium rates SMS services.
The software is designed in such a way that you do not need to have any musical or technical knowledge. The software on its own takes care of all the details. The following points will help you understand as to how you can add new ring tones on your mobile phones:

1) Firstly you need to download the ring tone converter for generating different ring tones on your computer.
2) Once the software is installed check whether the software starts and displays the screen.
3) The next step is to select the model number of your mobile phone or similar model number from the first drop menu box. Once you select the model number the picture of your handset will be viewed.
4) From the second drop menu box select the ring tone you want to add in your cell phone.
5) Once you have finished selecting the ring tone you need to click the convert button. Once you hit the convert button the software will automatically convert the tone into a key press sequence, which you can type in your mobile phone.
6) In order to type the key press sequence you need to locate the ring tone composer in your mobile phone. It is mostly found near the menu area of the phone. It is normally called a Ring tone composer or a ring tone editor.
7) After locating the ring tone composer type the key press sequence provided by your ring tone converter software. As long as you press the keys in the sequence shown by the software, the tone should go into your phone and play for you.

The Growing Trend of Comparing Shopping on Your Mobile Phone

Posted in Best Hardware at 12:27 pm by admin

We live in a world where we can do just about anything from a computer; chat with people in other countries, trade stocks, visit exotic locations that would never be seen otherwise; rent DVDs, and of course engage in the growing trend of comparison shopping. The Internet is gaining in popularity at an exponential rate and as adoption for broadband increases, so does the opportunity for consumers to compare prices for products and services as they look for the best deals on the web. Based on a recent ComScore study, 55 percent of Internet users now have broadband access at home; and are more likely to engage in online comparison shopping. Even better is that the majority of US consumers also have a mobile phone; and combined, takes comparison shopping to the next level.

It’s no secret that the Internet is the bargain shopper’s dream comes true. It has been for the last several years. For consumers that are concerned about stretching their dollars, finding the best deals, and getting what they want at rock-bottom prices, then the Internet is the greatest shopping tool to ever exist. Why? Because prices are often much cheaper online than they are at local retailers. The only caveat is that consumers cannot touch and feel the products before the actual purchase; a problem now alleviated with the use of mobile phones delivering the results in voice format.

It’s obvious that online comparison shopping is more efficient than pounding the pavement and searching local retail stores for the best deals and prices. However, consumers today still like to touch and feel products before making that purchase decision; a hard task to do through a computer. The fact is that consumers still enjoy spending their weekends at the mall, conversing with friends and family as they hunt for bargains and touch and feel products before buying them. Until these online comparison websites can provide the entire customer experience from beginning to end, they will never capture the full attention of value conscious consumers.

Is there an alternative?

Yes, introducing Frucall; the first voice-enabled comparison shopping service that allows consumers to compare retail store prices with prices online, directly from their mobile phone. It’s a quick and easy solution that sidelines many of the competitive sites that only offer comparison shopping while online. Better yet, is that consumers can soon purchase products directly from their mobile phone.

The way it works is simple. For consumers who are at a retail store browsing for products; all they have to do is dial a toll free number, enter in the bar code; and wait a few seconds for the results. Not to mention that the service is free so it’s obviously a no brainer.

Comparison shopping using mobile phones is one of the latest trends that have catapulted new business ventures that provide consumers with a one stop shopping experience. Consumers can simply dial a toll-free number from any retail location and compare prices of products and services of any type, style or magnitude. And, most of the time, walk away with a much better deal than they would find elsewhere. It will soon become second nature to most value conscious consumers, so it’s only natural that online comparison shopping using mobile phones will become a huge market for Internet buyers.

The growing trend of voice-enabled comparison shopping is a fascinating concept for value conscious consumers who still like the traditional approach to shopping, yet want to save money. Today, with so many of our daily activities performed with a mobile phone, Frucall provides a unique value proposition and adds to that growing list.

Telephones – A History – The First Construction

Posted in Best Hardware at 9:05 pm by admin

In this next part in our series on the history of the telephone, we’re going to pick up with the construction of the first regular telephone line.

After Bell’s completion of the telephone in 1876 the next step was making it so that this invention could be used by everybody. So in 1877, construction of the first regular telephone line, which ran from Boston to Somerville, Massachusetts, was finished. By the end of 1880 there were over 47,900 telephones in the United States and in 1881 a telephone service from Boston to Providence was set up. Then in 1892, they started a service between New York and Chicago. Two years later, in 1894, a service began between New York and Boston but it wasn’t until 1915 that transcontinental service by overhead wire was created. Backtracking a bit, the first switchboard, what we now call 411 service, was set up in Boston in 1877. Then on January 17, 1882, Leroy Firman got his first patent for a telephone switchboard.

The first telephone exchange was set up in New Haven in 1878. The first telephones were leased to people in pairs. Each person was required to put up his own line in order to connect with another. Finally, in 1889, a Kansas City undertaker by the name of Almon B. Strowger invented a switch that could connect one line to any one of 100 lines using a series of relays and sliders. This switch came to be known as the Strowger Switch and it was still being used by telephone offices over 100 years later. Strowger was given a patent in 1891 for his first automatic telephone exchange.

The very first exchange that used the Strowger Switch was set up in La Porte, Indiana in 1892. At first, subscribers to the service had a button on their telephone that produced the required number of pulses by tapping on it. It wasn’t until 1896 that one of Strowger’s assistants invented the rotary dial. This ultimately replaced the button and is still in use on telephones today, mostly for novelty purposes. In 1943, Philadelphia was the last city to give up dual service for both button and pulse dialling.

The first touch tone system, which used tones in the voice frequency range instead of pulses used by rotary dials, was installed in Baltimore, Maryland in 1941. Operators in a central switching office pushed the buttons to make this work. The problem was, it was just too expensive for general use by the public, but the Bell Telephone Company, named after the man credited with the invention of the phone, was still interested in the touch tone system because it increased the speed of dialling.

The answer to this problem came in the 1960s when low cost transistors and circuit components made the cost effective use of touch tone telephones in a person’s home a real possibility. Through much testing, positioning of the buttons limited errors and increased dialling speed even more. The touch tone phone got its big preview at the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair, where it was a huge success.

Cell phone Etiquette. The Do’s and Don’ts

Posted in Best Hardware at 7:19 pm by admin

With more and more people buying cell phones, it becomes more significant to know how to use your cell phone without looking obnoxious. Cell phones play an important role in our lives, but cell phone rage, like road rage, air rage and general rage is rising. Here are some tips for cell phone etiquette.

Out with a group of friend(s) and your cell phone rings? Excuse yourself from the group and take the call elsewhere. Taking the call elsewhere will not disrupt the flow of conversation within the group.

With a friend and the cell phone rings? Keep the call short and sweet. Otherwise, it gives the appearance that the friend you are with is less important that the caller.

Out on a date? The point of the date is to be able to spend time to get to know the other person. I would suggest that you disregard such calls. The romance is lost by the sound of the ringtones of your cell phone. Your date will appreciate your undivided attention.

It’s a good idea to put your cell phone on vibrate when in restaurants, theaters, churches, weddings and funerals. When I’m out in a restaurant, I feel like asking for the non cell phone ringing section. Like many others, it is not often do I get to spend a quiet evening away from the children, work or other distractions. An evening going out to dinner with my husband is supposed to be relaxing, and we do not enjoy being distracted overhearing how wonderful your life has become since you started using Viagra.

I was in a movie theater once and someone’s cell phone rang and the individual took the call. Someone else in the theater did not react well to the intrusive call and started shouting at the cell phone user. The cell phone user ignored the cell phone raged individual and the focus of the movie was lost and everyone’s attention was on these two people. While nothing came of the incident, a relaxing evening out with my husband was lost. I felt like asking for our money back. The next time we will.

There is no question that cell phones are an important part of our lives. Use cell phones with good manners. Everyone will appreciate it.

P.S. – As for ringtones… Not all people will appreciate listening to the latest pop tune or classical music each and every time your cell phone rings. May I suggest using the vibrate feature instead of your ringtones in a public place.

Motorola Pink RAZR V3 A Hit for Valentine’s Day this Year

Posted in Best Hardware at 5:27 am by admin

Valentine’s Day just happened only a couple days ago and as we speak many proud new owners of Motorola’s hot new Pink RAZR V3 are grinning ear-to-ear while using their new phones. This year many Valentines gift seekers turned away in the opposite direction from the cliché chocolates & flowers, turned away from the balloons, and believe it or not, turned away from mail order stuffed bears. Instead, many Valentines shoppers bought their significant other the gift of a new Pink RAZR cell phone, many of which were “his and her” type gift ideas with many men opting for the new Blue RAZR phone, and to the delight of their partner, a new Pink RAZR. It is no accident that many Pink RAZR phones were sold on Valentines Day in pairs.

In the months leading up to Valentines the buzz over the pink phones continued to grow and grow and is expected by many in the wireless mobile device industry to be the number one selling phone of the year. The entire RAZR series of phones has had tremendous popularity over the past year, reportedly taking in maybe more than 30% of the 30+ million cell phones sold in the third quarter of 2005 ALONE!

Motorola has released three different versions of the Pink RAZR cell phones, all three different shades of pink. The Cingular version of the phone fits in between the lighter version for Verizon Wireless and the magenta version for T-Mobile USA.

The new Pink RAZR by Motorola is extremely fashionable and because of this trait it is also very practical for the fashion conscious to own one. Paris Hilton was seen on TV brandishing the Pink RAZR before anyone else had the opportunity to buy it. Coincidence? Any pop-culture informed individual knows better because Paris Hilton has been setting trends for the past five years and has become the most sought after marketing venture in our society. The big wireless companies new Valentines Day would be the best time of the year to release a pink phone, and they hit the nail on the head. The Internet was full of Valentines advertisements and even on popular forums people were scrambling to buy a Pink RAZR for their partners to give to them on the special day.

The Pink RAZR, like all the RAZR versions before it, sports an ultra thin design made from aluminum, magnesium, nickel-plated copper alloy and chemically hardened glass, which was of course then finished with a soft pink touch. Don’t let the elegant look of the phones cosmetics fool you, this bad boy comes packed and fully loaded. Inside the RAZR is the latest in mobile technology and this includes video playback with a record function, Bluetooth wireless technology, and a VGA digital camera with zoom & quad-band, which is for global communications capability. Different versions of the RAZR have different features, as always, make sure you research each version of the phone so you know exactly what you are buying. The RAZR V3i for instance comes packed with iTunes software and is sure to be a hit as competition for the Rokr phones.

The Motorola Pink RAZR went on sale a couple weeks ago, on February 6th, just in time to make it the number one Valentines Day gift of this years holiday.
