Spec Hand Safety
Spec Hand Safety Choosing to play subpar hand in hopes that it will somehow hit the flop is a risky proposition. A speculative poker hand is pretty much a shot in the dark; it’s a move that arises from the desperation that comes with being dealt a long series of terrible online poker cards. They often miss the flop, but when they do hit it, they tend to pay off in a huge way. Still, since speculative hands have such low expectations of winning, there are a few cautions to keep in mind when playing one. Don’t try a spec hand at an aggressive poker online table. Since your hand probably won’t be winning, it’s not a good idea to pay more than the minimum bet to see the flop. At a table with more aggressive opponents, you’re much less likely to see the flop without being raised, so it’s usually best to steer clear of spec hands in that case. Get out if you miss the flop. When you try a spec hand, you’re probably going to miss the flop, and if you do, don’t hesitate to fold. One of the biggest dangers of spec hands is partially hitting the flop, so even if you flop a draw, get ready to fold if the table doesn’t check around.
