Getting a Dental Implant Has Never Been Easier
Individuals have been tolerating lost teeth for generations. Even George Washington lost most of his, and wore wooden ones to help him get by. But in this day and age, people have many more options. The most common is the removable prosthetic, know as a denture. This needs to be removed daily and cleaned, and they only last a few years, so most people who discover some other way usually opt for something else. The 2nd most popular replacement is a bridge; a fixed tooth that is attached to the adjacent teeth so they can be held in place permanently. These 2 replacements are the most common, and the one’s used most often for the past several years. However, there is a comparatively new technique called a dental implant. Dental implants, by Plano Smile Studio, are replacement teeth that are anchored into the jaw bone that allow all the natural use of a real tooth, and none of the decomposition that can go along with them. Over time, the gums will grow in place, giving it a very natural feeling so that nobody but you and your dentist will be able to see which one was replaced. Having one tooth replaced with a dental implant is an operation that can be taken care of in the dentist’s office, and on the first visit, will last about an hour. Sedation fluxgates among people, but can consist of at least a local atheistic, and maybe some nitrous oxide to help people relax a little more. Once a socket is created in the jaw bone, usually the same hole that was left by an extracted tooth; a titanium post is put in and permitted to heal. Minor medication and antibiotics are employed for those who may want it, but for only a few days. There is then a temporary replacement tooth is inserted in place while the patient is healing. Not long after this first stage of implant surgery, the doctor will then remove a small amount of tissue to reveal the implant again, so that he can inset a post, or “abutment’, that will give the crown something to sit on. Impressions will be made to realize the correct fit for each individual person. Nothing is average about fitting teeth; they are as individual as a fingerprint and need to be placed with precision in order to be used as naturally as possible. This whole process will take approximately 3-6 months, based on the individual. It is not uncommon to have an implant inserted on the same appointment as an extraction, lowering the number of trips back to the dentist. This is known as ‘immediate implant placement’.
