Retired Plastic Surgeon Joel Roskind MD to Instruct at Boston University Medical School
Following a career in plastic surgery that spanned 30 years and stints in Miami and San Diego, plastic surgeon Joel Roskind MD has returned to New York, where he ran a clinic for many years, to instruct, consult and pursue his interest in Judaic Spirituality. He will also return to instructing at Boston University Medical School, where he instructed previously. He will also teach in the fields of practice management and facilities accreditation.
Joel Roskind has been a medical renaissance man throughout his work. After finishing his bachelors degree at Franklin and Marshall College and Hofstra University, medical school at the University of Louisville and internships at the Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx and St. Louis University Hospitals, he went on to a fellow ship at the Christine Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky.
As a practicing surgeon, Dr. Joel Roskind learned firsthand changes in the healthcare industry leading to an progressive number of processes being performed outside the traditional hospital environment. Always patient oriented, Roskind’s cares about the safety of outpatient and ambulatory surgery facilities led to a long association with the AAAASF, including over two decades of service as a facilities inspector. He is well positioned to aid operators of such facilities meet the highest quality standards required by insurers today.
In addition to running a busy plastic surgery practice specializing in body enhancements, Joel Roskind MD also formulated a second specialty in facilities accreditation, eventually becoming an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), and is now lecturing with clinics to help them achieve certification. He also took a good interest in practice management and now consults with doctors in the areas of hiring and training team, setting up electronic systems, error prevention and patient relations.
Fulfilling the trust that patients put in their physicians has always been a part of Joel Roskind MDs personal mission as a doctor. Through his work as a lecturer and advisor, Joel Roskind hopes to continue to contribute to the medical profession in a broader and more comprehensive way. When he is not teaching or consulting, he plans to pursue a personal interest in Judaic studies.
