Snow Leopard vs. Windows Seven
While Windows 7 is considered a worthy rival, it seems that the Mac OS X Snow Leopard is a better OS for discerning computer users.
Windows lost a lot of users because of the debacle with Vista. While others opted to work around it by going back to XP, many jumped ship and switched to Mac. Is the new Windows 7 enough to bring them back?
The new Windows 7 is designed to address the problems that Vista had and it unarguably succeeded. It is less bloated and it is faster. In fact, it is touted to be the fastest OS Microsoft has ever developed since Windows XP, no matter what kind of hosting service. The annoying User Account Control alerts have already been dealt with and compatibility issues with third-party software have been squared away. Windows 7 even has a virtual ‘XP’ mode for legacy programs.
But Windows 7 went beyond just repairing the problems of Vista. It has improved on most of the tricks that were borrowed from Mac to make it easier for users to organize their files and launch programs. Windows 7 not only looks great but it also comes with tools that will help the user work more efficiently. Clearly, Mac OS X has found a match in Windows 7.
But after enjoying Mac, will you even want to go back to Windows?
Mac OS X Leopard has already attracted great review and for a very good reason. With the release of the Snow Leopard comes an improved OS X. Just when everyone thought they already have the best, Mac goes out to tell them they don’t. It offers under the hood improvements such as a recoded 64-bit Finder to utilize multicore processors more efficiently. Snow Leopard also makes Mac suitable for PC-oriented companies that use integrated Address Book, Mail and iCal support for their Microsoft Exchange Server 2007.
It’s a tough fight and with all the fun details that Mac offers, it’s going to be difficult to go back to the PC but then again, Windows 7 is still worth a try.
