A Fulfilled Vow
Naveen Jain lived a simple life from the moment he was born in 1959 in the state of Uttar Pradesh, India. His father was a civil engineer who always encouraged his son to concentrate on his education and give his best in everything he does. The women and children surrounding him were mostly illiterate due to the poverty they were experiencing. With his parents’ constant support, Naveen Jain worked hard to finish his studies with the goal of becoming successful to eventually help lessen the illiteracy and poverty in India.
At the Indian Institute of Technology, he graduated with a degree of Bachelor of Science in Engineering in the late 70s. Afterwards, he finished his Masters Degree in Business Administration at the XLRI Jamshedpur School of Management.
He was able to participate in a business exchange program in America which, paved the way for him to meet and work for Bill Gates at Microsoft Corporation. He became a senior executive in the said company and helped launch the Microsoft Network.
On March 1996, with several colleagues from Microsoft, Naveen Jain launched InfoSpace, a company that provides information to websites and Internet directories.
On January 2003, he founded Intelius with several IT experts. Intelius quickly became the leading provider of online tools for personal safety, including background checks, people search, and identity theft detection and prevention services. It has became come one of the top 100 commerce sites on the Internet and turned into a famous icon in the computer technology industry.
Success in business and in the field of computer technology never made Naveen Jain fail to remember his vow of helping illiterate and poor people. He has even continuously given scholarships and donations to deserving students, organizations, and charities as he once promised himself.
