Targeted traffic (or the lack of it) is what determines the success or failure of any commercial website. A site can receive thousands of visitors per day and still fail if most of that traffic isn’t targeted.
What is targeted traffic?
Have you ever clicked on a link or an ad only to discover that the site you land on has nothing to do with what you thought it would? Have you ever been redirected to another website that offers something you aren’t interested in?
If so, your visit to those websites consisted of untargeted traffic because you simply weren’t interested in the item(s) being sold on those sites. You got there expecting one thing but found something different. Or even worse, maybe you got there without even knowing you were going there.
Receiving targeted traffic simply means receiving visitors who are pre-qualified because they clicked on an ad or link that accurately describes your site and/or what it has to offer. How to get targeted traffic to your website
Obtaining targeted traffic is simple, but it isn’t easy. Here are a few great ways.
1. Exchange links with other websites that specialize in the same thing you offer. Many webmasters are reluctant to do this because they see it as linking to their competitors. Such an attitude is misguided and short-sighted.
Why? Suppose you have a link for your auto parts site on another auto parts site. Anyone who clicks that link is obviously interested in auto parts and is very likely to buy. Traffic simply cannot get more targeted than this!
But if you’re like many webmasters, you’re probably thinking “But I’ll be sending my precious visitors to a competitor’s website!”.
Yes, that’s true. But your competitor will also be sending his precious visitors to your website! It all balances out in the end.
In reality, it more than balances out because the THEMED inbound link to your website boosts your search engine rankings, which in itself brings you even more targeted traffic from the search engines!
In a nutshell, if done properly, exchanging links with your competitors will always results in a net increase in targeted website traffic and sales! Always!
2. Buy advertising space on high-traffic, relevant websites and ezines. If you sell auto parts, a great place to advertise would be on a site or in a newsletter that reviews autos/auto parts.
3. Build an effective pay-per-click advertising campaign for your main keywords. And be sure to use relevant synonyms to bring in the most targeted traffic possible.
4. Write articles that provide valuable information about the items you sell, then offer those articles to other webmasters for free to place on their site as long as they include your link in the article.
For example, if you sell auto parts you can write an article explaining how to properly pick out high quality auto parts and offer to let other auto parts sites to publish it along with your link.
5. Create an ebook about auto parts with your link on each page and give it away for free. You can even offer to let other webmasters give it away for free (as a bonus, for example)! These ebooks get passed down time and again, extending your website’s reach and boosting its targeted traffic to ever higher levels.

Cyprus is and island that is well know for many centuries of great traditions, but what it is best known for is its spectacular climate, which has made it a very popular destination with tourists, with over 2.4 million visiting its many resorts. Cyprus basks is more than 330 clorious days of sun each year, which has given it the name The Island of the Sun. There is no shortage of travel companies able to arrange Cyprus holidays and low cost airlines such as Easyjet offering routes to Paphos and Larnaca, it has never been easier to get there.
Cyprus attracts tourists from all over the world, but the majority come from Europe. In recent years Russians and Poles have become poolside regulars alongside the French, Germans and, of course, us Brits.. One of the main reasons why there is such a heavy presence of Brits in Cyprus is because of the positioning of the British Armed forces in the southern Greek part of the island. With quick and easy access to the Middle East, this is likely to be the case for some time to come. As such the Brits are now almost as local and the locals, and in turn, now cater for the Brits. From English being spoken everywhere you go, to driving on the left side of the road. No doubt the similarity to the UK makes us Brits feel more at home, but in a more favourable climate.
For many reading this, the prospect of taking a holiday away from England only to be greeted at the airport by a hire car representative hailing from Croydon and being served an authentic Mediterranean dish of steak and chips will not appeal. However, this side of Cyprus, that continues to attract millions of tourists year after year, is only one aspect of the island and is concentrated around the tourist hotspots of Paphos, Larnaca and Ayia Napa. As soon as you leave the packaged paradise and clubbers haven of these areas and hit the road the real country reveals itself.
If your fancy cooling off, and seeing something different take a trip up to the Troodos Mountains. In the heart of the mountains you will find the Kykkos monastery, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1998. Housing art and exhibits on ancient Greece, the monastery has the twin function of being a museum for visitors and a practising monastery lived in by worshiping monks. If you are a wine lover, there are treats in store for you. A daytrip to the Troodos Mountains can be a welcome change from the beach and with overnight accommodation available in many of the authentic villages dotted about; you might want to spend a few days here sampling another side of Cyprus.

Many science-fiction writers have written about the date when robots will take over the world and start a war killing all humans. If you are human such talk perhaps concerns you a bit. I suppose I do not blame you. After all humans with their soft shell are no match for the high-tech alloy construction we are promised with future robotic artificial intelligent androids, which may last generations. In our meet of such robots could terminate vast numbers of humans in a city or town in no time.
We have all seen Hollywood movies depicting robots killing humans and many futurists predict of this future risk. That is to say in the year 2050 it could all be possible; on the tombstone it read “death by robots.” Of course if humans are programming these artificial intelligent robotic androids then of course surely they will program them to; “Never harm a human!” Yet at the same time many of the Military Initiatives for the “Future Fighting Force” include robotic war fighters and artificially intelligent fighting machines.
In fact we are already seeing the beginning of this with unmanned aerial vehicles in the new net-centric style of war in the modern battlespace. So, what will the future hold, robotic armies sent in to kill the enemy? What if our domestic robotic companions which will have artificial intelligence and be able to learn hear of this and rather fancy the idea of exterminating humans? Consider this in 2006.

Relationships are opportunities to express yourself physically, and gratitude is acknowledgement of an opportunity taken.
How do you see yourself in relationship to all others and your environment? Do you see yourself, as kind/cruel, loving/hateful, generous/stingy, peaceful/restless or something else?
If you know yourself as one of these, then you will have a desire to express yourself in some way.
Relationships are opportunities to express these aspects of self. An opportunity is nothing more than a time and place to demonstrate that you are a kind person or a cruel person or whatever. All of life needs to express itself, and getting involved with another is that opportunity that you have drawn to yourself to say “here I am,” “I am kind,” “I am cruel,” or anything else that you wish to express.
This is the purpose of the relative world. It is the forum, the time and place to experience what you believe that you are and to declare it.
Personal relationships with lovers, partners, family, relatives, friends and strangers facilitate expression of your being. Without relationships you would be nothing because you could not express yourself and you could not declare that you are one thing or the other.
You cannot demonstrate love unless you have the opportunity to experience love, and you cannot say that you are loving unless you have the opportunity to be loving.
With the opportunity to express oneself in a relationship comes the responsibility to express gratitude for the opportunity. Gratitude is merely an acknowledgement of having a thing. It is a declaration of ownership.
If you have received a thing, then you must acknowledge it before it becomes yours. “I am grateful,” merely says that I have received what I desired.
All relationships work, because they are opportunities to express yourself positively or negatively. They may be accepted or rejected, but nevertheless they are opportunities and they must be acknowledged through gratitude. It is the human condition to say that a relationship worked or it didn’t, but at a different perspective all relationships work. With this higher thought, one begins to see all of life as a giant buffet. One begins to see abundance and opportunity in an endless sea of choices. And because this new awareness sets one free to choose, you will always see opportunity and welcome relationships, good or bad!
Marriage and divorce are such opportunities. They are perfect times to express your higher self and your darkest side. Close partnerships bring the best opportunities because they are the closest and most difficult to turn away from. There is urgency to react to the issues at hand because they are in your face.
They are wonderful opportunities to act or react in your own best interest. The person in you life that you are at odds with the most, offers you the greatest opportunity to demonstrate who you are.
“Good or bad,” “right or wrong,” are poor ways to describe relationships. All relationships are good, and all relationships work for you, even if it is an opportunity to walk away from them. And all of these opportunities are drawn to you by yourself because of your desire to express yourself.
The driver that cuts you off in traffic brings opportunity for you to react. At that moment at some level of your consciousness you need to experience, anger, pity, tolerance or understanding. This careless driver is an Angel (opportunity) that you asked for, whether you can fully appreciate it in the moment or not. In a higher state of awareness you would bless him/her for their gift (opportunity) to you.
Even in so called failing relationships there are just as many opportunities to express or experience yourself because there really is no such thing as a failing relationship. There is only an opportunity for you to see that the relationship as failing or not. There are new opportunities here to restore the relationship, walk away from it or turn it into something even better or worse. There is a chance to suffer in it or rise above it.
Physical love is a poor reason to enter into a relationship blindly. Love is life, and life moves. Unless the partners are prepared to grow in a relationship it is doomed to fail in physical terms. Relationships must always be a declaration of self growth and opportunity.
Over time, physical love may no longer be experienced but the opportunities for growth never dies and one may still be able to express gratitude for the opportunity that the partner has brought them. If relationships are seen as opportunities then it is always a win/win experience for all persons involved.
Relationships are also opportunities for one to reflect on self. If you can put yourself into the position of the silent observer, you can reflect on your experience and make adjustments to your thoughts about all the issues that came up. You can choose to see the relationship as only positive and beneficial to you.
Relationships that are seen as only good or bad, right or wrong are doomed to only those choices. Seen as opportunities, they all become beneficial and good. Relationships cannot be experienced as good or beneficial until they are acknowledged through an expression of gratitude.

Well, radio can be great way to garner awareness cheaply…
ahem, inexpensively… if you do it right. Remember…
97.823% of all radio ads S-U-C-K. That leaves you to carry
the banner for great radio advertising. And when you do, you
will get noticed. Believe me, you will get noticed.
Why do so many radio ads suck? Between the screaming
car ads, nasally voiced business owners who should never
get anywhere near a microphone reading their own ads,
and the next “turnkey” business opportunity, they are all
dressed in their plaid suits and resorting to hucksterism.
They want your money and they want it now.
They forget one thing. Well, actually a lot of things, but the
main thing they forget that people are not tuning in for their
ad. Listeners want Rush, Rome, Al, Laura, music, sports,
news, or whatever. People aren’t saying, “Gee, I gotta hear
great heating and air conditioning ads today!”
Your ad is interrupting what they listen for. By nature, you are
already behind the eight ball before you start in radio. But
there is hope.
First off, do NOT let a radio station employee write your ad.
If your exec isn’t a writer (you may luck out in that some
radio execs are copywriters in training looking for an agency
gig) and you don’t speak up, your ad will probably get
written by either: the station producer- who may have
already written 4 or 5 other ads that same DAY,who doesn’t
have enough time to fully attend to your needs, and thereby
wasting your money; OR a disc jockey (strange term- they
don’t spin wax anymore, Daddy-O) whose annoyed he or
she has to write an ad, or who’s not a talented writer to
begin with, also wasting your money; OR by an intern,
secretary, or other employee - who may relish the
opportunity, but may not have the chops yet, or is being
pressured to write something “quick and dirty” so it can
produced and on the air — also thereby wasting your money.
You have creative control and the ultimate yay or nay, so feel
free to choose your writer. Hint and Shameless Plug : There

Now, when it comes down to concepting and reviewing
scripts, remember this: Radio is called Theater of the Mind
for good reason. Use it to your advantage. Recall your
disadvantage before starting.
Cleverness will grab attention. But… it must be on strategy
to be effective. Give your writer ONE benefit to express. How
does that benefit resonate with the target audience? Don’t
think if you have a “mundane” or “boring” product or service,
there’s no cleverness to be had. Give a good writer enough
information, and they will find it.
A few of the BEST radio ads I’ve ever heard was for a soil
conditioner. Yup. A soil conditioner. Two voices. One
performed by the writer. The other performed by midlevel
(read… talented, and nonunion) voice talent. Writer as The
Hick Farmer. Nonunion Talent as the Smart Farmer.
Hick Farmer: “Hey, nay-bor…Whatzzat on yer roof?”
Smart Farmer: (obviously) “It’s a satellite dish.”
Hick Farmer: “Whazzit fer…? Talkin’ to the Martians?”
You can almost hear the slack jaw in your head. And it
makes you want to hear more. That’s your goal for radio.
Another ad for the same product was even better.
Smart Farmer: “Hey, neighbor… Why so glum?”
Hick Farmer: “Aw… the weeds, the bugs, the disease… my
crops are about ruined… I’ve had an awful year. The wife
has been pickin’ her tooth for leftovers.”
Now, I’m not a farmer. I never heard of conditioning soil. But,
you can bet I understood what it did after these ads. And did
I mention I was wondrously entertained when receiving this
information?
To be fair, these ads were produced by an ad agency with a
good sized budget. The campaign also won some ad
awards and some industry awards. The point is– a good ad
isn’t loud, repetitive, trite, condescending, or tries to jam as
many words possible into the time frame. In fact, silence
works to your advantage. Silence in radio (or even TV) is like
white space on a print ad. It tastefully surrounds the content
for maximum effectiveness, drawing the eye (in this case,
ear) in to read (hear) the copy.
Voices are important, too. Ever listen to the radio and hear
the same voice all over the ads? That’s usually Mr. or Ms.
Producer– the person who makes sure the ad gets made.
That’s why they don’t have time to write a good one for you.
Many freelance writers, myself included, know something
about voices and casting, and can probably get you the best
talent for your dollar. Some writers can even voice their own
copy. And think twice, no… three times about voicing it
yourself. Better make that four times.
Oh, and if you’re wondering what length of ad to buy? In
most cases, go for the :60. For just a few dollars more, you
get twice the time to play with. If you are spending money on
radio, use ALL the resources available to you to create the
best possible ad. And that usually entails going outside the
radio station walls to get it. ~~
